FOOTBALL TRANSFER BRIEFING: City and Liverpool join race for Gravenberch as United eye up Nkunku and Arsenal’s poor rival Spurs for Bergwijn.. FOOTBALL TRANSFER BRIEFING’: Summer 2024
Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Arsenal on Sunday, October 13, as they look to strengthen their squad during the summer.

Manchester United
Brian Mbeumo (Brentford): Manchester United has submitted an enhanced offer overf £60 million” for Brentford’s Brian Mbeumo, after an original offer of “around £45 million plus £10 million in add-ons” was turned down. Mbeumo enjoyed a “phenomenal” campaign with Brentford, finding the target “20 times” and setting up “seven goals”. Although Tottenham Hotspur reportedly want him, it seems Mbeumo is “on the way to Old Trafford” with a fee if Brentford accept the bid. His former manager, Thomas Frank, has since joined Tottenham.

Lack of goal scoring: The pursuit of Mbeumo also tells us a bit about how Manchester United see their way to mitigating their “lack of goal threat” under Ruben Abberim in the 18/19 season.
Matteas Kuna: It’s already a done deal that United have completed the signing of Matteas Kuna to support their attacking department.
Alejandro Garnacho: Garnacho “can leave Manchester United” and did not make their first-team squad for their last Premier League game. He attracted attention recently with a social media post of himself in an Aston Villa shirt with the name Marcus Rashford on the back. He was a target for Chelsea in the January window, but a deal could not be struck.
Christopher Nkunku (Chelsea Nkunku’s “United target in January”, and “definitely” leaving Chelsea this summer. A possible swap deal of Garnacho and Nkunku is cited,  but who knows with PSR and FFP rules?

Tottenham Hotspur
Brian Mbeumo: Tottenham “were interested” in Mbeumo, but he is now thought to be on his way to Manchester United.
Alternative Targets: Spurs are making back-up plans in the shape of:
Anton Smeno: A player they “like.”
Eberechi Eze (Crystal Palace): Tottenham are also “keen” on Eze, who has been “absolutely brilliant” for Crystal Palace over the past couple of seasons. It’s said that “prising Eze from Crystal Palace is not going to be easy”, with a valuation of “around £65-£70 million”. Crystal Palace has recently won the F.A. Cup and seems well on course for European football.
Chelsea
Jamie Gittens (Borussia Dortmund): Chelsea will sign Jamie Gittens is “taking it forward”. A previous bid of £42 million was turned down, but Gittens “remains a priority target for Chelsea,” and discussions are “continuing and ongoing.” Gittens himself “remains keen to switch to Chelsea.”
Winger, Centre-back: Chelsea want to sign “a winger and a centre back” in the summer. They “will sign at least one winger.”

Alejandro Garnacho (Manchester United), Garnacho, and still “a target“.
Christopher Nkunku – “Certainly” Will leave Chelsea this summer. One of Manchester United’s men during the winter, he had “almost joined Bayern Munich” in January. He was bought by Chelsea two seasons ago for “52 million , he still has “four years remaining on his contract.”
Arsenal
Kepa Arrizabalaga (Chelsea) “On his way to Arsenal from Chelsea” “£5 million release clause.” He will “challenge for the number one spot against David Raya”. Arsenal loaned Netto from Bournemouth last season, who will now return to his club, while Kepa played on loan at Bournemouth in the last campaign.

Marseille
Jordan Henderson (Ajax): Marseille and Roberto De Zerbi “want to keep” Jordan Henderson. Henderson has a clause in his contract at Ajax enabling him “to leave the club on a free transfer”. He has got work to do this season to get his seat in Thomas Tuchel’s England World Cup squad – he was a “surprise” inclusion in the first squad of Tuchel. Henderson is “about 35,” and was “in and out of the Ajax team.”
